About Mass St. Collective: Mass St. Collective, named after the famous Massachusetts Street that runs through downtown Lawrence, is the NIL collective that serves student-athletes at the University of Kansas.  NIL opportunities allow student-athletes to engage with charitable causes and participate in business engagement, building their brands while making a positive impact.  The collective connects fans, alumni, businesses, and charities with student-athletes while harnessing the power of the University of Kansas.  Supporters can connect with teams through memberships, tax-deductible donations, and corporate sponsorships.  NIL opportunities allow University of Kansas student-athletes to focus on representing their school at the highest level of college athletics and their education without worrying about additional expenses.  Mass St. Collective connects these student-athletes with a wealth of opportunities to earn compensation while furthering their professional and personal development. 


Background: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Corporate Sales Manager is responsible for formulating and implementing strategies aimed at securing corporate partnerships for Mass St. Collective. Generating revenue through the sale of Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) partnerships that strategically align with the company's mission and objectives is the primary responsibility. Working closely with internal departments, the Corporate Sales Manager will develop compelling partnership proposals, conduct negotiations, and nurture relationships.  This role will be based in or near Lawrence, KS. 

 

This position calls for a dynamic, self-driven individual with a competitive spirit and a commitment to sales excellence. Ideal candidates demonstrate a track record of successful sales and possess the skills needed to effectively plan, oversee, and execute various tasks.

 

Responsibilities:

     - Conduct thorough market research and analyze industry trends to identify potential partners and key industries.

     - Evaluate competitor partnership programs and industry benchmarks to inform strategy development.

     - Develop a comprehensive partnership strategy aligned with organizational objectives, targeting blue-chip brands.

     - Collaborate with stakeholders to design impactful partnerships, customizing proposals to address specific needs.

     - Implement proactive sales techniques (cold calls, e-mails, social media, networking) to engage potential partners through presentations and meetings.

     - Negotiate terms, pricing, and contractual agreements with a focus on cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with corporate partners.

     - Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, addressing inquiries and ensuring fulfillment of obligations.

     - Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to seamlessly integrate partnerships into the overall strategy, providing input on promotional materials and establishing KPIs to measure success.

     - Regularly report on partnership performance including revenue, achievements, and challenges to management.

     - Other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience:

 

   - Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field

   - 3-5 years of experience in sales roles, preferably in corporate partnerships

  

Preferred:


   - Master’s Degree or formal sales training.

   - Knowledge and enthusiasm for collegiate sports and NIL

 

Additional Skills & Abilities:


   - Experience engaging with and presenting to senior executives.

   - Proven track record of meeting annual sales targets.

   - Strong business research and problem-solving skills.

   - Effective networking abilities and a robust network of brand and agency contacts.

   - Proficiency in negotiating contractual terms and execution.

   - Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

   - Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multitask.

   - Ability to thrive in a competitive marketplace and meet challenging sales objectives.

   - Proficiency in developing strategic activation programs and promotional campaigns.

   - Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

   - Proficiency in MS Office suite and ActiveCampaign

 

Other Requirements:


   - Expected to work from the office Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings related to games and events

   - Games: Expected to attend and function in multiple sports venues
