POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

 

We’re seeking a seasoned Head of Analytics to build and lead the data science division of our Roster Strategy service unit, GAIM.  The Head of Analytics will develop comprehensive sports data systems and advanced metrics that power our services to college athletic departments.  The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with full-stack analytical systems and have the opportunity to own technical direction and team development.  The role will report to the Vice President, Roster Strategy. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Design, build, and scale a production-grade data stack focused on college sports

  • Develop proprietary metrics and player-valuation models that provide insights, creating competitive advantages for athletic department clients

  • Establish scalable data infrastructure, pipelines, and processes

  • Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing data science team

  • Partner with our client services team to translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations

  • Own the full technical stack from data acquisition to model deployment

  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations

  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:


The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics, traits, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field; advanced degree preferred

  • 7+ years of data science experience with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role

  • Experience designing and building database systems: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar

  • Strong expertise in Python and/or R, with production-level coding practices

  • Experience with cloud ecosystems, deploying distributed systems at scale: AWS, GCP, or similar

  • Track record of developing and deploying machine learning models to production

  • Experience with version control protocols, git or similar

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex analyses into clear business insights

  • Experience building and leading technical teams

  • Strong communication skills, particularly explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Demonstrated understanding of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) as it relates to the collegiate athletics space preferred but not required

  • Proven track record of quickly developing and maintaining strong and lasting relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders

  • Possess conscientious attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and honesty and has a reputation as the person who always does the right/fair thing

  • Be proactive and self-motivated by a will to achieve results and win

  • Must possess an entrepreneurial mindset

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-level results

  • Ability to work nights/weekends/sporting events and travel as needed

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite(s)

  • Role is remote
